On Easter, Jesus rising from the dead. But why did Jesus die?

During that time, groups of Roman and the Jewish wanted Jesus dead, one of the reasons was that they saw him as a political and social threat.

How did Jesus put on trial? Jesus actually went through several trials, which all of them were not properly conducted. Jesus first trial was before the Sanhedrin, the Jewish religious authorities, where he was charged with blasphemy for claiming to be God.

The council in fact had no authority to sentence Jesus to death, so they brought Jesus to the Roman Governor, Pilate after he was beaten. And they began to accuse him, saying, ‘We have found this man subverting our nation. He opposes payment of taxes to Caesar and claims to be Messiah, a king.’ (Luke 23:2)

Pilate could not find enough evidence to convict Jesus and so he sent him to Herod, the leader of Galilee. Before Herod, who wanted to avoid the political liability, Jesus was mocked, beaten, and then sent back to Pilate.

Pilate finally allowed his crucifixion under the pressure of the crowd and wanted to satisfy them (Mark 15:15).

There was no legal reasoning for deciding Jesus to be crucified. Yet, it was part of God’s plan that Jesus died so that humans could have our sins forgiven.
